It is my pleasure to finally announce the new special issue of the History—Theory—Criticism journal 1/2025, which is dedicated to biographical research. The issue’s roots are in the talks during the Prague workshop Biographical Research in Central and Eastern Europe: Traditions and Challenges, which took place at the Faculty of Humanities, Charles University, in June 2024.

In this issue, we have thought-provoking – and provocative – essays by none other than Professor Hans Renders (University of Groningen), Professor Bohumil Jiroušek (University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice), Doctor Václav Sixta (Charles University), and Doctor Ákos Bartha (Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest). Finally, Doctor Jiří Němec (Masaryk University) reviews a recent biography of Milan Rastislav Štefánik by Doctor Michal Kšiňan (Slovak Academy of Sciences).
